The Gypsies Arrive in Prague
May in the Czech Republic capital of Prague is a time for celebration, as Gypsies from around Europe converge on the city.
From May 22nd to 27th the city plays host to a festival of Roma music, dance, art and culture at a variety of venues across Prague.
Known as the Khamoro festival, the event brings Gypsies together from across the continent and transforms Prague into a Roma town with a carnival atmosphere.
Jazz Club Reduta will host a number of concerts, with an international line-up including the likes of Trio Johnny Rosenberg from the Netherlands, Harri Stojka from Austria and Angelo Debarre from France.
Meanwhile, the ROXY club will be providing visitors with authentic traditional Roma music, featuring Nadara from Romania and Ilo from Russia.
The highlight of the week-long festival however, is the Khamoro parade, which sees Gypsy artists taking to the streets of Prague.
A trip to the historic city is always a memorable experience, so booking a room in one of the various hotels in Prague during the Khamoro festival is another compelling reason to visit.
