Classic Car Capers in Copenhagen

On August 5th and 6th 2006, the largest classic car grand prix ever seen on Copenhagen will take place.

The Historic Grand Prix is now in its the sixth incarnation, featuring a range of classic motors to enthral enthusiasts and onlookers with speed, great design and roaring engines.

Taking place around the largest park in the city, the Faelledparken, next to the national football arena, organisers state that the race will give visitors an "ideal opportunity" to visit Copenhagen.

In 2004, the event saw some 150 cars, watched by 10,000 spectators, along with president of FIA Historic Motor Sport Commission, Gunnar Elmgren.

"Naturally, the beautiful city of Copenhagen in itself is a tremendous asset, but also the ambience of the race track in the middle of the city and in the well groomed park is of an extraordinary quality and not to be seen anywhere else in Europe," he said.

Mr Elmgren added that the "enthusiastic openness and friendliness" of the locals, coupled with the desire of organisers to make the event a "true movable feast" helped to honour culture and technology of the past.
