Look for the Ribe Thing to Buy

Look for the Ribe thing to buy Those with an interest in Viking history can find it with horns on at the Ribe Viking centre in southern Denmark, where the traditional Viking market is brought back to life on the weekend of the 5th and 6th of May.

Enthusiasts for traditional Norse culture will find here more than just buying and selling -the full gamut of everyday activities is reconstructed.

Such a theme is in fact an everyday aspect of the Ribe centre, where falconry, archery, weaving, sheep shearing and fire making are all on the centre's calendar in the early part of the month, offering days of fascinating discovery and activity for all the family.

Those who fancy shopping for Viking-style goods can certainly do a bit of haggling in the market, according to the centre's website, as well as looking round the excavated sites at the centre dating back as far as the ninth century.

The area has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
