Queen's Birthday Honour

Queen's birthday honour Visitors to Denmark may find April 16th a good day to be in the capital, Copenhagen, as this is a very special day for Her Majesty.

The Queen's birthday traditionally sees the monarch taking a break from opening presents and blowing out the candles on the cake to make a public appearance for her subjects.

Crowds gather in the square outside the royal residence of Amalienborg Palace, where she will make a much-demanded Royal appearance on the balcony at mid-day for the flag-waving crowd.

The appearance takes place shortly after the changing of the guard, another ceremony that shows it's not just Britain that likes its royal pageantry.

Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Copenhagen can also enjoy many other sights and sounds in the city.

These include the famous Little Mermaid statue, the Kronborg castle and the Viking Ship Museum.
