To Be, That is the Answer

To be, that is the answer Shakespeare fans will be familiar enough with the lines of Hamlet, but for a really authentic experience a trip to the Prince of Denmark's homeland could be just the thing.

In September 2007 Hamlet Summer will feature six successive evening performances of the famous play in the ballroom of Kronborg Castle at Elsinore, the building depicted as Elsinore Castle in the script.

Here the words "to be or not to be" and "Alas, poor Yorick," will be given added gravitas by the location.

According to organisers, the opening night is virtually sold out, but tickets are available for all other nights, with prices starting at DKR110 (£10).

Naturally enough, the castle itself offers a major tourist attraction for visitors staying in cheap hotels and is a United Nations world heritage site.

Elsinore (Helsingor) lies on the coast of the island of Zealand, from where ferry crossings can be enjoyed across the sea to the Swedish Port of Helsingborg.
