For those who like their artistic expression to be a bit different from the norm, the country that produced Eurovision-winning monster rockers Lordi may just be the place, not least when the Avanto festival is staged in Helskinki in November, running from the 17th to the 19th.

The festival provides a platform for non-conformist audiovisual art, with unconventional film, improvised acting and the music produced using digitised everyday sounds in unusual ways, all of which is intended to provide a strange but challenging experience for the audience.
