Film Tampere-ing

Film Tampere-ing For those who love short film, the Finnish city of Tampere may be just the place to go between March 7th and the 11th as the Tampere Short Film Festival gets underway.

According to organisers, the event will have a particular focus on work from sub-Saharan Africa, Poland and the Sami (Lapp) culture of northern Scandinavia.

The third largest city in Finland, Tampere also offers a range of exciting attractions for visitors staying in cheap hotels.

It has a couple of vineyards, despite its northern location, plus dramatic scenery, with the heart of the city located on an isthmus between two lakes, between which runs the Tammerkoski rapids, a fine white-water sight as well as being the provider of power for the establishment of Tampere as an industrial city.

Tampere is also close to the Seitsmann and Helventinjarvi national parks, while the night sky may bring a sighting of the Aurorae Borealis (Northern Lights)
