Fintastic Stuff

Fintastic stuff Classical music lovers may consider heading north for a summer concert season that features a series of performances in different venues in and around the Finnish town of Oulunsalo.

Held from July 26th to August 2nd 2007, the event sees concert halls hosting musical treats along with art galleries, churches, large manor houses, a museum and even the Liminganlahti Nature Centre.

Directed by Izumi Tateno, the concerts feature various styles, from orchestral to church music, contemporary to lied, with children's concerts showcasing Finland's young talent.

Festival organisers have published ticket prices ranging from €10 (£6.82) to €20, with the occasional free concert.

Oulunsalo lies by the Gulf of Bothnia coast, offering visitors staying in cheap hotels plenty of beaches and coastline to explore.

It is also possible to head inland from the small town and explore the wilderness of lakes and forest in the Oulu region.
