Helsinki Festival to Offer Culture and Creativity
The Helsinki festival, described by the tourist board as "the most diverse event in the Finnish cultural calendar", is set to offer visitors a wide range of entertainment.
Taking place between August 18th and September 3rd 2006, the eclectic event has something for every taste, featuring classical music, dance, theatre and circus, visual arts, cinema, jazz and poetry.
On the Night of The Arts, on August 24th, over 140 events of varying sizes will take place around the city.
Jazz fans will also find something to keep them entertained, as Viapori Jazz is a festival with Finnish, "petite intimate settings and artists" in the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, while the UMO Jazz Fest will be "parading a whole army of front-line Finnish musicians and Scandinavian colleagues", the tourist board states.
Helsinki, a picturesque city with pretty architecture and beautiful views, is also a popular holiday resort, with cheap hotels and great cultural events ensuring that it is popular all year round.
