The Pori Jazz Festival is big news on the jazz scene, this year taking place for the 41st time. Over 100 concerts in ten venues will play to around 130,000 people.
Among the legends lined up for 2006 are Kanye West, Irma Thomas, John Lee Hooker, the Neville Brothers, Roberta Flack, Dizzy Gillespie Big Band and the Cab Calloway III Review.
Music fans can enjoy beautiful outdoor locations on the banks of the Kokemaki River, which offer the magic of the Northern Lights and the midnight sun, purpose built arenas, large festival tents, or lively venues on Pori's Jazz Street.
The city of Pori has a strong attraction for students and young people, with parks and sandy beaches to offer as well as cultural ties.
