A Day at the Paris Beach
Holidaymakers planning a trip to Paris this summer might want to make sure their visit coincides with the arrival of the famous Paris beach between July 19th and August 20th.
Every summer, officials order lorryloads of sand to be delivered to the right bank of the Seine to transform it into what has become known as the Paris Plage.
Sun loungers, palm trees and parasols are scattered across the sand to add some extra seaside flavour, while beach-goers are able to indulge in typical beach activities such as volleyball.
Live music performances are also plentiful on the beach, as are displays of artistic talent from people with a knack for rearranging sand into recognisable objects and figures.
Visitors to the beach - who might be looking for cheap hotels in Paris - should avoid the temptation to go for a dip in the Seine, but can get wet if they wish in the nearby swimming pool.
