Cannes Lit Up by Firework Festival
Possibly the best firework teams in the world will be drawing the crowds to the bay of Cannes for the unmissable annual Festival d'Art Pyrotechnique, taking place over six dates in July and August.
Many of the jaw-dropping displays begin at 22:00 BST and will light up the skies for at least half an hour.
The firework tableaux will be set to complementary musical accompaniment. While many national styles will be represented, those pyrotechnical designers cannot resist La Marseillaise as firework music to rival Handel.
This year, teams will compete for the honour of the 'best-of-the-best' gold trophy, so expect an exceptional spectacle.
The French Riviera has plenty of diversions during the day, from people watching to music, food and wine.
