Celtic Cracker

Celtic cracker Lovers of Celtic culture could be in for a treat as the various nations of this widespread ethnic group come together in the French Celtic stronghold of Brittany between August 3rd and 12th 2007, when the Interceltic Festival takes place.

Held in the Breton town of Lorient, the cultures of the Scots, Welsh, Irish, Manx, Basques and Cornish are all included in a cultural celebration that features a wide variety of music, arts and film, plus plenty of partying.

The official programme includes appearances by bands such as the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the Mahones, while traditional Celtic music involving harps, flutes and bagpipes is included.

Entry prices for different events vary, with some free and none costing more €30 (£20.50).

Visitors staying in cheap hotels can also enjoy a variety of attractions in the Lorient area.

These include the WWII Keroman submarine base used by the German U-boats, plus a wide area of coastline to explore.
