Discover the Art of a Princess at the Louvre
People staying in cheap hotels in Paris will find plenty of fascinating exhibitions at one of the city's most famous museums this year.
Until July 21st, the Louvre will host a display called Marie d'Orleans – Princess and Romantic Artist.
D'Orleans lived and worked in the first half of the 19th century and her art is a representation of the ideals of that time.
She was the daughter of King Louis-Philippe and, through his education, developed a passionate interest in the arts, eventually taking up drawing and sculpture herself.
The exhibition at the Louvre features a number of the young princess's works, providing a fascinating perspective on the society and culture in which she lived.
Paris's Louvre is one of the world's most famous museums and houses some of the most revered works in the history of art, including Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo.
