Enter the Gates of Heaven in Paris
People staying in cheap hotels in Paris will be taken on a journey to an ancient world at the Musee du Louvre this year.
An exhibition entitled The Gates of Heaven: Visions of the World in Ancient Egypt opened at the famous museum on March 6th and will be on show until June 29th.
The display explores the concept of 'the gates of heaven', which was used by ancient Egyptians as a phrase to describe a passageway to the afterlife but also to denote certain everyday objects.
Visitors can see some 350 artefacts in the exhibition that represent eras ranging from the earliest times of ancient Egypt to the Roman period.
As well as providing information on the objects' significance and usage in ancient times, the showcase places them in a social, religious and artistic context.
The Louvre, which is one of the world's most famous museums, is currently hosting a number of other exhibitions including a display dedicated to the painter Ferdinand Georg Waldmuller.
