European City Hotspots 'popular This Xmas'
Cheap hotels in Paris, Amsterdam and Dublin are set to be as popular as ever this Christmas as Brits celebrate the festive period overseas, according to the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta).
The travel group predicted that city breaks in these locations will be particularly popular for New Year's Eve.
It is not only European destinations expected to see an influx of British Christmas visitors, however, as Abta predicted that many people will stay in cheap hotels in New York to experience the city in fully festive mode.
Overall, some 3.5 million people are expected to flee Britain's shores between December 21st and January 2nd.
Many will go in search of winter sunshine, while others will hope to find good conditions for skiing and snowboarding, according to Abta.
Justin Fleming, president of the association, said: "This is always a peak time for travel as people make the most of the bank holidays and once again there are a record number travelling."
