Go Prehistoric

Go prehistoric France is famous for its anthropological history, with many caves and archeological sites around the country, but for a chance to bring the whole subject for life, Prehistoparc at Tursac in the Dordogne may be just the place.

Open until November 11th, the park is an attraction for all the family, with a trail that weaves through the woods in a large loop past life-size models of cavemen, showing various aspects of what their lives may have been like.

with re-enactments of hunting, fishing and cave painting, there are plenty of woolly mammoths, woolly rhinos and somewhat hairy people on display to inform and delight the whole family.

Entry is €6 (£4) for adults and €3 (£2) for children.

The Dordogne area has plenty more for visitors, being famous for its wines, while the wider Aquitane region offers the historic city of Bordeaux and surfing at Hossegor on the Atlantic coast.

Aquitane has a wide array of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
