Innocent Fun

Innocent fun Those who fancy a winter fair with a real history will find nearly 500 years of it at Limoges in the Limousin region of France, with the Saint Innocent Winter Fair.

Held in December (exact date to be confirmed), the fair, which dates back to 1566, features a wide range of local food, especially meat and sausages, as well as other goods from all over France.

Innocent is not the only saint worth checking out in Limoges, with the spectacular medieval Cathedral of St-Etienne being a top feature of the city.

Other attractions include the Musse Municipal de l'Eveche and Musse National Adrien Dubouche, which show off the history of enamel and porcelain making for which Limoges is famous.

For those venturing farther afield, the Dordogne Gorge is close at hand.

The area also has many accommodation options including cheap hotels.
