Liberty, Equality, Party

Liberty, equality, party Bastille Day in France is one of the key days on the national calendar, commemorating a central event in the nation's history when the famous fort was stormed by revolutionaries in 1790.

Taking place on July 14th, this is a national holiday in which Paris takes centre stage, with military parades, political speeches and a huge amount of partying, which begins with balls held on the evening of the 13th and carries on in the streets all over the city on Bastille Day itself.

Naturally enough, the most prominent landmark in the city takes centre stage in the evening as the Eiffel Tower becomes the launchpad for thousands of fireworks and the night sky is lit up.

Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Paris can add all this fun to the usual myriad of attractions, from the architectural splendour of the Arch de Triomphe and Notre Dame Cathedral to the fine art on display in the Louvre, not to mention the culinary splendour for which Paris is renowned.
