Bastille Day in France is one of the key days on the national calendar, commemorating a central event in the nation's history when the famous fort was stormed by revolutionaries in 1790.
Taking place on July 14th, this is a national holiday in which Paris takes centre stage, with military parades, political speeches and a huge amount of partying, which begins with balls held on the evening of the 13th and carries on in the streets all over the city on Bastille Day itself.
