Marseille Nightlife

La Maison Hantee was a former concert hall. The hall has now been turned into a quiet bar you can play darts and pool here. La Maison Hantee is located at 10 Rue Vian, 1ST.

For live music check out the Jazz Club Venture at 19 Rue Venture, 1ST. This discreet little jazz club is located in a former antique shop. The club is used by local musicians and has a great late night atmosphere, one not to miss.

If you are looking for somewhere that's open until the early hours, then check out L'Exit Café at 12 Quai de Rive-Neuve. This place offers a happy hour from 18.00-21.00, but beware the bar is open until 04.00. Things really start to pickup about midnight when the house and techno pumps in.

Le Cyclope is a very popular dinner and disco nightclub, located at 328 Boulevard du Redon, 9th. The night starts with a light meal, then a floorshow. After the entertainment has finished its up to you to do your stuff on the dance floor.

Places of Interest in Marseille

Chateau Pastr'e was built in the 1860's and is now the home of the Earthenware Museum. The Museum has over 12,000 ceramic pieces dating back as far as the Neolithic times.

Maresille's City Hall is a fantastic Baroque building that was constructed by the architect Pierre Puget in the 17th century. The ferry port is also located here, were the boats depart several times a day.

The fish market at the Quai del Belges is certainly worth checking out. Here the fisherman and their wives are trying to sell last nights catch. The fish here are so fresh that some are still flopping in the buckets.

One of Marseilles's most picturesque districts, is that of port L'Estaque. The quays are lined with fine cafes and restaurants' offering you snacks to gourmet meals. This area has been drawing artist from around the world for many years, and still today they are quayside producing great works of art.

Ardamone at 28 Rue Caisserie, 2nd is an organic eatery with a wide selection of tasty dishes. The range at this restaurant is fantastic, you could try Scottish Salmon or Thai Green curry. Also the salads here are fresh and inventive, this is a no smoking restaurant to boot.

The restaurant Dimitri has an Eastern Europe theme, with Hungarian and Russian specialities such as Baikal salmon with onion and fennel puree. Also try out the paprika lobster fricassee. The restaurant Dimitri is located at 6 Rue Moelan, 1st.

The restaurant Camors is situated in the heart of the Estaque fishing port. Here you can order any fish dish that you can imagine, all fresh from the night's catch. The house special is Bouillabaisse, as you would expect from this region, it's delicious. The restaurant Camors is at 82 Plage de l'Estaque.

There is a taxi rank outside the arrival hall, a taxi into the centre of Marseille will cost 38 Euros during the day and 48 Euros at night.

Bus
The Airport operates a shuttle service from 06.10 that runs every 20 minutes and costs 8.50 Euros. The bus will drop you at Gare St Charles, the buses stop operating after the last evening flight has landed.
