Nice Day out in Nice
Sailing fans spending Christmas in the south of France will have the opportunity to witness one of the country's most significant regattas.
The international regatta in the Baie des Anges, or Bay of Angels, has been running for more than 40 years and welcomes up to 40 crews of sailors from all over the world.
Past participants have included Paul Cayard, Roberto Benamati, and Jose-Louis Doreste, all of whom will be familiar to fans of competitive sailing.
Visitors to the event, which is organised by the Water Club of Nice and is free to watch, will see Olympic-level sailing experts pitting their skills against each other in a number of different categories.
Nice is one of France's mot popular tourist spots, located on the famous French Riviera and offering a number of hotel choices to visitors.
Among the city's places of interest are the Promenade des Anglais, the Saint Nicolas cathedral and the local chateaux.
