Nice to Hold Christmas Regatta
Regarded as the most important sailing regatta in France, this December will see the latest Christmas Star event in Nice.
An event organised by the Water Club of Nice, the regatta has been taking place for more than 40 years, with around 40 sailing crews turning up to take part each year.
The show takes place in the Baie des Anges, which literally translates as the Bay of Angels.
Assembling the world's finest sailors, Olympic-class contestants will be in attendance at the event, taking place on a number of sailing classes.
The star class, used in Olympic competitions, will also be featuring.
Competitors who have made the trip to Nice to take part in the past include Paul Cayard, of the US, and Roberto Benemati and Jose-Louis Doreste, of Italy and Spain respectively.
The backdrop of snowy mountains is the ideal setting for the event, with plenty of cheap hotels in the pretty town of Nice for visitors to retire to when the day is over.
