Places of Interest in Nice

Promenade du Pallion just east of the Place Massena you will find these beautiful gardens. The gardens lead to the National Theatre, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Also the Acropolis congress centre and Palais des Expositions.

Promenade des Anglais is a fabulous psalm tree lined drive that you will probably see on your way into Nice. This promenade is home to most of Nice’s famous hotels, such as the Negresco. The promenade also leads to the town centre, with its Italian style arcades.

Colline du Chateau is the old town of Nice and is bordered by the famous Cours Saleya. This area is lined with cafes and restaurants as well as an open-air market.

Nice Day Trip

For a day trip and you feel that you need to get away from the coast, the head for the Alps. The Azure Alps is just a 90-minute drive from Nice, were you could ski, snowboard or go ice-skating.

Dinning out

For under  £10.00 try the Boni at 21 Rue Baria. This restaurant is a mix between Spanish and Italian with lots of pasta and cold meats.  

Moving the budget up slightly you could try Nossi- Be’ for under £25.00. This restaurant however is a 20-minute drive from Nice, but is worth the time if you have it. The restaurant offers a la carte dishes created by award winning chefs, and is located in the beautiful medieval village of Aurbeau-sur-Siagne. 

Pushing the boat out, a little more for under £40.00 located on the main square in Antibes is L’Auberge Provencale. The restaurant is set in a 16th century convent, with old beams, stone walls and a covered courtyard. This restaurant is for those who love seafood especially oysters and lobsters. The menu can range from 18 –118 euros. 

Nice Nightlife

For a low-key start to the evening try out the Blue Gin Bar in the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel. The bar has a transatlantic theme to it, as well as its own indoor lagoon pool.

If you are looking for some live music then head for Le Ketje at 15 Rue Auguste-Gal.

This bistro like bar is lovely in the summer with its terrace, cocktails and live acoustic sets. If you wish for a late and lively night then head for Au Bureau this bar, restaurant is in the heart of Nice, and is open till the early hours of the morning. The Au Bureau is located at 49 Rue Felix- Faure.

Getting from Nice Airport

Bus
The Airport runs a bus service into Nice centre and cost only 4 euros for the fifteen minute journey.

Taxi
The taxi rank is outside the arrivals hall and costs about 25 euros for the journey into the city centre.

Car Hire
The main car rental companies all are represented in the arrival hall the Europcar desk is open 08.00-20.00 Monday to Friday and 09.00-18.00 on Saturdays.
