Outdoor Cinema for Lyon Summer
Lovers of open-air cinema may be interested in heading to Lyon this summer, as screenings will take place throughout the season.
L'Institut Lumiere will be showing a selection of contemporary and classic films until August 29th 2006, so fans can peruse the schedule and view at their leisure.
The summer festival has already shown a number of classic films from around the world, such as Some Like It Hot and Touching The Void, with more to come, Whatsonwhen reports.
The institute describes itself as a "living museum of cinema", with its home in Lyon's Monplaisir since 1982.
Monplaisir is the area where the Lumiere brothers invented the cinematographe in 1895, shooting the first film in cinematic history, Sortie d'Usine.
In addition to attending the festival, cinema lovers may wish to stay in one of the city's cheap hotels and pay a visit to the institute's museum, set in the grounds of a chateau built in 1902.
