The show will be open at the Musee de la Musique until January 17th 2010.

Arranged with the support of Miles Davis Properties, the exhibition was launched to mark the 60th anniversary of the musician's first trip to Paris to perform at the Salle Pleyel and 50 years since the release of the album Kind of Blue.

The display covers every stage of Davis's career, from his childhood in St Louis to his performance at La Villette in Paris in 1991, just a few weeks before his death.

Visitors can see a selection of items that have never been shown in public before, including rare video footage, original scores and a collection of trumpets and other instruments played by Davis and his contemporaries.

The exhibition also includes pieces of art that provide an insight into the time and culture that Davis was part of.
