Paris Exhibition Celebrates Pierre Soulages

Paris exhibition celebrates Pierre Soulages The Centre Pompidou is currently hosting a major retrospective celebrating the work of Pierre Soulages.

Art enthusiasts staying in cheap hotels in Paris will be able to see the exhibition until March 8th.

Soulages is described by the Centre Pompidou as "the greatest painter on the current French scene".

The institute hosted its first major exhibition of the artist's work in 1979.

More than 100 pieces feature in the latest show, dating from 1946 up to the present day.

Visitors will be able to see walnut stain pieces created between 1947 and 1949, as well as paintings from recent years that offer an insight into the latest developments in Soulages' work.

On February 17th, the Centre Pompidou will launch a new display celebrating Patrick Jouin, one of the leading figures on the French and international contemporary design scenes.

The show will feature 20 projects that represent the style and methodology of Jouin and his team.
