Places of Interest in Paris
Batignolles
This area of Paris has now become one of the new Bohemian quarters to be in. The are two main areas, they are Rue des Dames and the square des Batignolles. Both these area are lined with hip bars and cafes. Also there is a large market just off the Rue Brochant that is worth checking out.
Beaubourg
This lively district is in the centre of Paris is based around the Pompidou centre.
The pedestrian area here includes the Gothic St – Merri Church, cafes and bars. Also you can see several art galleries as well as some interesting boutiques.
Madeleine
This area is centred near the Place de la Madeleine and the imposing church.
Many people visit here not for the church, but the gourmet food shops and its boutiques.
A Paris Day Trip
A trip to St Denis is a must, just at the end of the metro but of the beaten tourist track. This is the resting-place of all but three of Frances sovereigns are buried. Also close by is the historic silverware factory Christoful and the Stade de France. There is a very colourful market also in St Denis that is worth visiting.
Dinning out in Paris
Where to begin, well here are three suggestions on eating in Paris. For the cheapest under £10 try Le Temps des Cerises at 18 Rue de la Butte-aux- Caillies. Here you can try traditional French food served in a lively casual dinning room. Here the daily special only cost £8.00 including starter main and desert. The restaurant is run as a coperative and all staff gets a share the profits.
Moving your budget up slightly to £20 then try out Carpe Diem Café at 21 Rues des Halles. This restaurant is a bit more stylish than the above, but still casual. Here you can sample classic French dishes that will not cost a fortune.
For those who can afford up to a £40 budget, then head for Thiou. Although this is a Thai Restaurant in Paris it can offer super fresh, high quality cooking by Madame Thiou herself. Keep your eyes peeled for the Paris jet set when dinning here.
Paris Nightlife
For some live music try out the Sunside / Sunset Jazz Club at 60 Rues des Lombards, this place is considered by most in Paris as the top Jazz club. Here you can hear traditional jazz upstairs and in the basement they play electro jazz. Ticket prices are reduced after the first sets.
Wagg at 62 Rue Mazarine used to be known as Whisky a go. The Wagg is on the left bank located below the Alcazar/ Mezzanine restaurant. The club is young and stylish playing a mixture of eighties, techno and salsa the club is closed Monday to Wednesday.
Getting from Paris Airport (Orly)
Train
The journey time between Orly and Paris central take 30 minutes. The RER B4 operates every eight minutes between 06.00 and 23.00 the price of a ticket is €9.05 at the time of print.
Taxi
The taxi fare into central Paris should cost about €35 this can rise at night.
Bus
The Orly bus stops at the Place Denfert- Rochereau every 12 minutes starting at 05.45 and finishing at 23.00 and cost’s €5.80.

Did you know the cemetery Pere Lachaise that occupies 109 acres on the eastern hills of Paris is the largest green space within the city. Opened in the early 1800s this carefully landscaped cemetery is the resting-place of such residents as Edith Piaf, Moliere La Fontaine and Jim Morrison.
