Paris Wins 'reader's Favourite' Title
Frommer's has announced that its inaugural 'reader's favourite' title has been awarded to Paris.
The travel guide publisher surveyed readers from around the world in October and November to discover their favourite destinations.
In an attempt to explain the French capital's enduring popularity, the company refers to a statement made by one of its readers that Paris is simply "the greatest city in the world".
Travellers staying in cheap hotels in Paris can absorb some culture by paying a visit to the Louvre or the Musee d'Orsay, or see iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.
As well as announcing this year's 'reader's favourite', Frommer's published a list of the destinations that it expects to be big in 2010.
The Danish capital of Copenhagen and the Australian city of Melbourne will both prove popular, according to the publisher, along with less mainstream destinations such as Salta in Argentina and Kerala in India.
