Pianists Show off Their Chops on Chopin

Pianists show off their chops on Chopin Distinguished international pianists will congregate for the eighth International Chopin.

Festival this month, held at Nohant in the Massif-Central region of France.

Artists including Abdel Rahman El Bacha and Roustem Saitkoulov will give recitals during a programme that celebrates Chopin and his influences.

It is a year of musical anniversaries: the festival will pay homage to the birth of Mozart and the death of Schumann by making connections with the composers' works and influence.

Devotees of Chopin and his one-time mistress, who went under the name of George Sand, will be able to encounter experts and participate in masterclasses for the duration of the festival, where the baton will first be raised on July 21st.

The events take place around Nohant and the country estate of George Sand. For those recitals held in the romantic-sounding 'Bergerie', however, concertgoers take note: the location is translated as the 'sheep barn', so it may be prudent to pack green wellies as well as your dress suit.
