Relive the Roaring 20s in Paris
The city of Paris is currently undertaking an exploration of the 1920s, one of the most exciting and distinctive decades of the 20th century.
People staying in cheap hotels in Paris can find the Annees Folles exhibition at the Musee Galliera until February 29th.
This showcase recreates 24 hours in the life of a chic Parisian woman in the 1920s, displaying the fashion, fabrics and styles that characterised the era.
Creations by famous outfitters of the period - such as Chanel, Patou, Talbot and Worth - will be on show, as well as sound recordings, photographs and films that evoke the nature of the times.
One of the most significant trends of the 1920s was the growing freedom of women to express themselves through their clothes, attitudes and hairstyles.
The Annees Folles exhibition will therefore be full of powerful images of short-skirted women smoking cigarettes and celebrating their independence.
Another theme explored in the event that will be of interest to culture vultures is the shift in popularity from Art Nouveau styles to Art Deco.
