Roland Garros to Host World's Best

Sports fans staying in cheap hotels in Paris in a couple of months' time will be able to see the best players in world tennis going head to head at the French Open.

The tournament – which is also known as Roland Garros, the name of the venue where it is held – will run from May 25th until June 8th this year.

This famous sporting occasion is one of world tennis's Grand Slam events, sharing a position of international recognition with the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.

It is also the only Grand Slam event played on clay and therefore acknowledged as the world's premier clay court competition.

The past two years of Roland Garros have seen the current world leaders in men's tennis, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, clash in the final, with Nadal emerging victorious on both occasions.

Justine Henin has been similarly dominant in the women's competition, lifting the trophy for the past three years, and these sporting stars will be eager to show their dominance on clay once again this year.
