Serving Up a Treat

Serving up a treat Tennis fans will have a treat in store if they head for Paris in the (late) spring, as the French Open tennis tournament takes place at Roland Garros.

Held on the famous red clay, a slow surface that encourages many more lengthy rallies than grass, the event takes place from May 28th to June 10th 2007, according to the Association of Tennis Professionals.

As one of the four grand slams, all the top men and women's players will be there, with Rafael Nadal defending his title against the likes of world number one Roger Federer and rising star Andy Murray, while Belgian Justine Henin-Hardenne will try to keep her ladies' crown against fierce competition from Maria Sharapova and the Williams sisters.

In addition to the tennis, visitors staying in cheap hotels in Paris will be able to enjoy a myriad of attractions in a city which needs little introduction.

The panoramic views from the Eiffel Tower, romantic strolls along the Seine, historic buildings such as the Bastille Palace and Cathedral of Notre Dame, plus art galleries such as the Louvre are all highlights of a historic and beautiful city.
