Shrimply Brilliant

Shrimply brilliant Those who love seafood can enjoy a fine French festival dedicated to the humble crustacean in Normandy this autumn.

Honfleur Shrimp Festival takes place in the village of that name on the weekend of September 30th and October 1st, offering visitors staying in cheap hotels the chance to enjoy some seafood (not just shrimps) and explore the maritime heritage of the port.

The event features a shrimp-peeling competition, while there is plenty of entertainment and music for all the family as the town celebrates its history.

Honfleur lies just south of Le Havre across the Seine Estuary, meaning there are plenty of hotels available, as well as the attractions of a city centre which has United Nations world heritage status thanks to the way it was reconstructed after World War Two.

Visitors interested in history and heritage while in Normandy can also explore various D-Day landing sites.
