The Birds

The birds Those who love their wildlife and know their grebes from their mallards, the 16th Abbeville Bird and Nature festival could be right up their flight path.

Held between April 15th to the 23rd in the bay of the Somme, the event offers a wide range of activities and attractions for nature lovers.

According to the programme, this includes exhibitions of wildlife art, films and photography, lectures and wildlife walks, displays of stuffed birds and art and crafts for children.

The immediate area offers a wide range of beaches on which to enjoy pleasant spring weather, while Le Petit Train offers a steam engine ride through the local countryside.

Abbeville lies downstream from the city of Amiens, which boasts a spectacular 13th century cathedral with world heritage status, as well being the burial place of Jules Verne and the site of a famous World War I battle.

The area has a wide range of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
