Tour De Dunkirk

Tour de Dunkirk Dunkirk is famous for people trying to pass through as quickly as possible, but the reasons are entirely peaceful, though fiercely competitive in July 2007.

The town is one of the locations through which the Tour de France passes, with stage two, Dunkirk to Gand in Belgium, occurring on July 9th.

It follows the opening leg which runs from London to Canterbury, with the 168.5km leg heading east from the famous port, leaving France once more and crossing the low land of Belgium in a leg known as the Flanders Classics.

While the event will appeal to cycling fans staying in cheap hotels in Dunkirk, those with an interest in history will also find much to fascinate them.

The local tourist office advises that tours are available of the key locations in the battle, including the war memorial, General Abriel's headquarters during the battle and the war cemeteries.
