Walk This Way

Walk this way Those who like a good walk and feel they are up to doing 16.3 km can enter one of the most scenic walking races around, which heads from Paris to Versailles.

Held in late September, the race begins on the banks of the Seine under the Eiffel Tower and heads south-west along the riverside, before exiting the city and taking the long uphill stretch to the finishing point at the grand Chateau de Versailles, where the treaty which ended World War one was signed.

Those wishing to enter need a certificate to prove they are physically fit enough to take part.

Apart from the race, visitors can enjoy a myriad of sights and sounds in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

These vary from the panoramic views afforded by the 984 ft high Eiffel Tower to the elegant riverside attractions of the left bank.

Grand structures like the Cathedral of Notre Dame and Arc de Triomphe are also a must on any tourist itinerary.

Paris has plenty of accommodation for visitors, including cheap hotels.
