Beerlin

Beerlin Those who love a good beerfest are often prompted to look towards Germany, but anyone imagining that these start and end with the oompah bands, leather shorts and thigh-slapping of Bavaria's Oktoberfest would be mistaken.

Instead, visitors to Berlin can enjoy a capital beer experience at the Bierfestival Berlin 2007, which runs from August 3rd to 5th 2007.

Among the attractions brewed up by organisers for hundreds of thousands of thirsty visitors is the "longest beer garden" in the world, running the length of Karl-Marx-Allee from Frankfurter Tor to Strausberger Platz.

Organisers have also stated that there are 20 different "beer regions", each serving a wide international range of beers that cannot be found outside the festival, while 18 different stages provide musical accompaniment.

Best of all, entry to the festival is free of charge.

Berlin has plenty of accommodation for visitors, including cheap hotels.
