Berlin Airline Named World's Best
Travellers heading out to Germany for the World Cup, or for a more relaxing break, might benefit from Air Berlin's deals.
The German airline has been named the world's best low-cost airline, pipping JetBlue Airways and easyJet to the post
Nearly five million opinions were gauged as part of the Skytrax survey, on a wide range of customer satisfaction criteria.
Air Berlin received the title of best low-cost airline in Europe.
Joachim Hunold, chief executive of the airline, commented "Low-cost travel will only become more popular, and that means more competition," said.
"We always wanted to stand out from the rest with our high levels of customer service and that is starting to feed back to us from surveys such as Skytrax.
"We are really delighted to have gone one better than last year and scooped the worldwide award as well."
The final of this summer's World Cup will be held in Berlin on July 9th 2006 and if the injury-plagued England team makes it to the final, thousands of fans are expected to jump a plane to soak up the atmosphere.
