Celebrate the End of Winter in Frankfurt
Celebrating the end of winter with a holiday is the perfect way to bring in the spring and come February, cheap hotels in Frankfurt will be the place to stay.
Every year in February the German city celebrates the end of three long months of cold, wet and windy weather in a blaze of colour and music.
The city celebrates Fastnachtszug which has a history dating back to the 14th century and symbolises the struggle against the evil winter and welcomes in the bountiful summer months.
It is a great party for those travelling with kids, with characters setting out from the parade to entertain the crowds including court jesters, scarecrows and hunch-backed witches.
Once the festival is over, there are plenty of other attractions in Frankfurt to keep you there for a few days, including the likes of the Kaiserdom cathedral the Modern Art Museum and the world renowned opera house in the Stadtische Buhnen.
