Discover the Master of Flemalle in Frankfurt
Visitors to Frankfurt over the coming months will have the opportunity to visit an exhibition exploring the work of the artist intriguingly known as the Master of Flemalle, as well as the Dutch painter Rogier van der Weyden.
The Master of Flemalle is generally considered to be the artist Robert Campin and Van der Weyden was associated with Campin when he was based in his workshop between 1427 and 1432.
Along with the Van Eyck brothers, both of these painters were of great importance to the birth and development of early Netherlandish painting.
Despite their significance, there has not been an exhibition dedicated exclusively to these two artists to date.
This situation is remedied by the current display at the Stadel Museum in Frankfurt, which was organised in partnership with the Gemaldegalerie der Staatlichen Museen of Berlin.
The exhibition, which people staying in cheap hotels in Frankfurt can see until February 22nd, features more than 50 masterpieces by Campin and Van Der Weyden, many of which have never been displayed before.
