Frankfurt Museum Focuses on Rodin
Frankfurt will be the place to be over the coming months for people with an interest in the sculpture of Auguste Rodin as the Stadel Museum hosts an exhibition dedicated to the great artist.
Until March 22nd this year, Rodin will be the subject of the sixth instalment in the museum's 'Focus on
' series at the Riverside gallery.
The display revolves around a pair of bronze figures, each of which are just under 40cm high, entitled Faun.
Completed in 1885, the figures were derived from the complex and detailed design programme for The Gates of Hell, Rodin's monumental work which is now on display at the Musee Rodin in Paris.
A number of questions are addressed in the Stadel Museum exhibition, such as why the figures have such unusual proportions and what inspired Rodin to create them in the first place.
People staying in cheap hotels in Frankfurt over the coming months may also be interested in visiting the Stadel Museum for an exhibition looking at the artists Robert Campin and Rogier van der Weyden.
