Germany Set to Burst into Flames
A series of fireworks events are set to light up the river Rhine this September.
The event, Rhine in Flames, will be set along a pretty stretch of the river, with spectacular sparkles and boisterous bangs eliciting "oohs" and "aahs" from the assembled crowds.
Taking place in a number of German cities, including Bonn and Cologne, firework fanatics could follow the path of the river, staying in cheap hotels and checking out the free show, before enjoying Germany's vibrant nightlife.
The next event to take place, on September 9th, is the Night of a Thousand Fires, taking place in the Rhine Gorge accompanied by music and a ride on one of more than 40 ships.
A romantic option is the last night of the event, on September 16th, which takes place in St Goar and St Goarhausen, with local wine and delicacies available, while four separate firework displays will crackle overhead.
