Motorsport fans have a good reason to head for Chemnitz in Germany in July as the German Moto Grand Prix takes place.

Near this city, on the edge of the small town of Oberlungwitz, is the Sachsenring Circuit, where thousands will sit enthralled as the best Moto GP bikers in the world hurtle round the track at breakneck speeds on their 500cc bikes, overtaking, leaning at crazy angles as they take corners and occasionally skidding off the track in spectacular tumbles.

Taking place on July 15th, the race is the tenth in the world championship series of 18, so the battle for top spot will be well developed but far from decided when the riders line up on the starting grid.

Fans will be able to see if Australian Casey Stoner, leader after three races so far this year, can hold of the challenge of nearest rival Valentino Rossi, or whether another competitor emerges from the pack to take the lead.

Chemnitz has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
