Heady Steady Go

Heady steady go There are many places to go to see grand historic buildings, but for the ultimate vertigo-inducing experience few such places can match Ulm Cathedral for height.

At 161.5 metres (530 feet) high the spire of the cathedral is the highest in the world, taller, for example, than Blackpool tower.

Constructed between 1377 and 1890, the cathedral has 786 steps in its spire, taking visitors up to the giddy heights for a panoramic view of this old town.

Those staying in cheap hotels in Ulm will have plenty to see, do and enjoy at lesser altitudes as well.

Apart from the classical chocolate box architecture, there are the town walls, many old churches, arched red-brick bridges over the Danube and the remains of an old Roman fort.

Located in Bavaria, the city of Ulm makes a good location to explore the region, including the Black Forest and the Danube Valley.
