Mosel on Down to Cycle Day

Mosel on down to cycle day Holidaymakers looking to travel to Germany without following the England team might want to visit the Happy Mosel.

Taking place this Sunday, the annual event sees all motorised vehicles banned from the beautiful Mosel valley for a cycle day.

The event is attended by hundreds of cyclists every year, who flock to the region to enjoy the 140km scenic route along the river and the region's wine and food, which are famous throughout Germany.

Vineyards pepper the river's banks, with pretty villages to stop in for a bite to eat or shade from the elements.

The largest city in the area is Cochem, a long, bustling city which runs along the riverbanks, where wine and tourist attractions are available to visitors, while Cochem castle dominates the skyline, perched high above a bend in the river.
