Out for a Duck
Those who fancy doing something that's absolutely quackers may find just the event in the beautiful Neckar Valley in Southern Germany.
Lying just south of Stuttgart, the town of Tubingen hosts its own rubber duck race every autumn, with October 6th 2007 being the day of this year's grand race.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Stuttgart can join in by renting a duck with its own ticket and watching on as the thousands of yellow toys are tipped into the river and float off downstream.
Victory or defeat depends on sheer luck as the myriad of competitors bob up and down, carried by different currents and occasionally drifting into the terminal pit-lane known as the shallows.
Those staying in Stuttgart can enjoy both the fine scenery of the Neckar Valley or the area in and around the city, with its many castles, palaces and theatres.
