For those who sometimes feel television has gone down the u-bend, an interesting alternative is to try it on the U-Bahn.
Berlin's underground system has had televisions installed since 2000 to provide information and entertainment to passengers, but between January 31st and February 6th the Going Underground event takes place, when 14 short films are shown on the screens, with passengers given the chance to vote by text for their favourites.
The winner receives a prize of €3,000 (£2,028).

History buffs will have a particularly good time checking out the remaining bits of the wall, which divided the city from 1961 to 1989, while old and new are combined in the Olympic Stadium, which hosted this year's World Cup Final and also displays a plaque to Jesse Owens, the show-stealing black athlete who exploded Hitler's attempts to showcase his notion of Aryan superiority before the Fuhrers eyes.
