Cheap Hotels in Berlin - News
Tower Power
For those who want to do something ultra energetic while on holiday, Berlin offers a great opportunity to join in a race with a difference.
Scheduled for January (date to be confirmed) and costing between €4 (£2.68) and €7 to enter, the 465 steps of Berlin sees runners race up the stairs to the top of the Ideal-Hochhaus, the tallest residential building in Germany.
Alternatively, those who prefer to take lifts can watch for free.
Berlin has plenty of other attractions for all, both super fit and sedentary.
Those with a historic interest can see the remaining parts of the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie, while interesting buildings in the city include the Brandenberg Gate, the rebuilt glass dome of the Reichstag and the Olympic Stadium, which hosted this year's World Cup Final and has a memorial to Jesse Owens, the black American athlete who won four gold medals in the 1936 under the gaze of a seething Hitler.
Berlin has a wealth of accommodation options, including cheap hotels.
