Buda-fest
Anyone fancying a fortnight of festival fun in a place oozing history may find just the thing in Budapest between March 17th and April 2nd.
The Budapest Spring Festival features a vast array of entertainment in different styles and mediums, from orchestra music to jazz, dance to film, local artists to international performers, at over 200 venues around the city.
Examples of the offerings listed by festival organisers include Eraritjaritjaka, a postmodern musical (named after the Aboriginal word meaning "we long for something lost"), an array of music by and exhibitions about Mozart, concerts by the Budapest Festival Orchestra and a production of Swan Lake at the Hungarian Opera House.
Apart from the festival, Budapest has many other fine attractions for visitors staying in cheap hotels to enjoy.
These include fine nightlife, excellent riverside walking along the Danube, outstanding churches and the only Turkish baths in Europe which cater for women.
