Budapest Museum Showcases Van Gogh
An art museum in the Hungarian capital has announced that it is organising an exhibition of the works of Van Gogh.
The Budapest Tourism Office revealed that its Museum of Fine Arts is planning to borrow a number of pieces from a range of art museums across the world in order to showcase some of the most important works from the Dutch artist's oeuvre.
Holidaymakers staying in cheap hotels within travelling distance of the museum, situated in Heroes' Square, will be able to visit the exhibition and view some of the establishment's permanent fixtures, including an Egyptian collection and modern art exhibition.
The tourist board added that a catalogue with English translations will also be available to visitors, which will feature articles on the art world's reactions to his pieces in addition to critiques.
"And in connection with some of the pieces exhibited from his large oeuvre, interesting extracts from Van Gogh's correspondence will also be included."
A number of cheap hotels in the city, which is divided by the River Danube, are also within easy walking or travelling distance of an array of attractions, including the Opera House, the Franz Liszt Academy of Music and the Military History Museum.
